GALLERY AND REVIEW / Mayday Parade

BY PARIS LEWIS
I was hit with instant nostalgia on Sunday night when I saw Mayday Parade at Delmar Hall in St. Louis, MO. The band sold out the venue, and it just brought me back to Warped Tour. The excitement, the intimacy of everyone being packed so close together, the music, the merch, all of it. The actual performance was so fun. Each member on stage was super energetic and didn’t stay in one spot. I honestly don’t know how artists can jump around and head bang all while still singing their lyrics without missing a beat. It’s actually insane. As a photographer, this kind of show was something I’ve been waiting for to get my motivation back up. The constant movement of bodies and hair as well as deep blue, red, magenta, and orange lighting (which is not the most ideal for a lot of photographers) all worked together to remind me why I love doing what I do. The world of photography, specifically in music, is a whole bunch of figuring out and doing what you can with what you are given. I think we all need moments like this show from time to time to keep us in check.
